Where To Stay In Florence
Florence offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and travel styles. Here are my top 3 areas to consider as well as my suggested stays in Florence.
Historic Center (Centro Storico) – Hotel Davanzati
⭐️ Rating: 9.3/10 (1,853 Reviews) Price: $226 per night 📍Location: Via Porta Rossa 5, Uffizi, Florence Details: Read more on booking.com now!
The historic center is the heart of Florence, where you’ll find iconic landmarks like the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery. Staying in this area is my suggestion for first-timers as it allows for easy access to major attractions, charming streets, and lively piazzas.
It is also best suited for this 2 days in Florence itinerary. However, keep in mind that it can be crowded and noisy, especially during peak tourist season.
My pick for this area would be Hotel Davanzati. It has air conditioned rooms and comes equipped with Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs and amazing bathrooms.
“The location is so central. The rooms are big, clean, beds so comfortable and gorgeous bathrooms. Most of all it’s the staff that make the place. Special shout-out to Leonardo and Angel !
You guys made me feel so welcome and appreciated. You are professional, warm, positive and just so helpful with everything ! Thank you!”

The Hotel Davanzati also provides airport transfers and if you want, you can even rent a car from here. Don’t wait around, book your stay at Hotel Davanzati for your 2 days in Florence.
Santa Croce – B&B La Casa dei Tintori
⭐️ Rating: 9.3/10 (290 Reviews) Price: $215 per night 📍Location: 33 Corso dei Tintori, Santa Croce, Florence Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Situated east of the historic center, Santa Croce is a lively neighborhood known for the stunning Basilica di Santa Croce and its picturesque square. It offers a mix of accommodation options and has a vibrant nightlife scene with bars, clubs, and live music venues.
Staying here provides a quieter alternative to the bustling center while still being within walking distance of major attractions.
One of the best places to stay here is the B&B La Casa dei Tintori. It has really comfortable rooms and such a nice Italian vibe to it.
All in all, you find that it offers a nice homey ambiance which makes it a very relaxing place to stay when you are spending 2 days in Florence.
“My Son and I stayed at this B&B for four nights. We stayed in the small blue room and it was perfect for two single adults. The hosts were generous with their time, offering suggestions, directions and fresh breakfast. The location was ideal, near restaurants and museums but just a little away from the business we saw in other areas.”

I would however recommend booking your stay at B&B La Casa dei Tintori in advance because it very popular and that means that the rooms sell out quickly. This is especially true in summer.
Oltrarno – Piccolo Borgo Antico
⭐️ Rating: 8.5/10 (574 Reviews) Price: $161 per night 📍Location: Borgo San Jacopo 8, Santo Spirito, Florence Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Situated on the other side of the Arno River, Oltrarno is known for its bohemian vibe and artistic atmosphere.
It’s home to the Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, numerous artisan workshops, and some of the best views of Florence.
Staying in Oltrarno offers a more authentic and less touristy experience, with charming streets, local eateries, and a vibrant nightlife scene.
One of the best places to stay in Oltrarno is Piccolo Borgo Antico. It has lovely modern rooms which a pretty spacious, neat and comfy.
The best part however is that it also has a small kitchen so if you feel like whipping up a small meal at home, you can.
“Piccolo Borgo Antico provides exceptional services to travellers. Elena, the host, was very helpful and took care of our wellstaying. The apartment is located in a great area, right next to Ponte Vecchio so all you want to see is in a walking distance. Even railway station is 20 minutes by foot :).
The room was spacious and very clean, equipped with everything you need for some-day stay. Kitchenette is a great asset, as well as small market 5 minutes walking from appartment (which is not easy to find in the centre of the city 😉 ).
Re: cleanness, apartment was cleaned every other day and the same applies to towels – changed every other day. Apartment also provides safe-deposit box.”

Very handy! Just note that not all the rooms have a kitchen so if this is something you need, mention it when checking in.
How To Get Around Florence
If you are trying to get around during your 2 days in Florence, make sure to figure out the transportation first!
Getting around Florence is incredibly convenient thanks to its compact size and efficient transport system. The city is highly walkable, making walking the most popular mode to get around. Walking is the best way to tick off the top attractions in this 2 days in Florence itinerary.
Walk
Or if you’re like me, cram it all into a day trip from Rome! You can easily explore the main attractions, charming streets, and hidden corners on foot as long as you wear comfy shoes. Walking allows you to fully immerse yourself in the city’s atmosphere and stumble upon delightful surprises along the way.
Public Transport
If you need to travel to and from outside of the city center, Florence has public transport you can take. Trains and buses are readily available and can take you to various spots. You can purchase tickets at authorized vendors and newsstands. Just remember to validate your ticket upon boarding.
Catch A Taxi
Taxis are another convenient option, with taxi stands located throughout the city. It’s important to note that Uber and Lyft are not available in Florence due to the conflict between Italian taxi drivers and ride-sharing services.
The only way you can ride-share outside of catching a taxi is via an NCC driver (noleggio con conducente), essentially a private driver. I would stick to local taxis as they will likely be cheaper and you can still order via your phone through apps such as AppTaxi.
Take The Hop On Hop Off Bus Service
If you prefer a guided tour while exploring the city, the hop-on hop-off bus service is an excellent choice. These buses follow designated routes and stop at major attractions, allowing you to hop off and explore at your own pace. Tickets are typically valid for 24 or 48 hours, providing flexibility and convenience.
Whether you choose to walk, call a taxi, use public transportation, or a combination of these methods, getting around Florence is a breeze. Embrace the charm of the city as you navigate its streets, squares, and iconic landmarks, making the most of your time in this captivating destination.

If you are curious about it, you can even take a day trip from Florence to Cinque Terre.
Michelangelo however isn’t the only artist who has his works displayed here. You will find a number of works of many different Florentine artists here. You will not believe how many amazing artists the city has produced over time.
In fact, the Galleria Dell’Accademia isn’t the only place where you will see these art works. Florence is covered with them but the Galleria is where you will find them all under the same roof!
“We had the best tour at the Accademia Gallery! Easy meeting point, got our headphones, then guided right into the gallery with zero issues. I felt bad for everyone waiting in long lines.
Definitely book this experience- our tour guide Vera was extremely knowledgeable and gave us lots of information on lots of sculptures/paintings. You can tell she truly loves what she does and loves art! Great experience!!”

I recommend you book your tickets in advance to skip the queues! This is because the entry lines are long and sometimes you will just spend hours just waiting to get in.

Rise and shine bright and early, we’ve got another full-on day ahead of us! Here is day 2 of your 2 days in Florence itinerary.

After a quick breakfast at your hotel or a nearby bakery, kickstart your second day by visiting Pitti Palace.
This grand Renaissance palace has several museums and art collections, including the Palatine Gallery and the Boboli Gardens. Explore the opulent rooms and admire the vast collection of paintings and sculptures.
San Lorenzo Market
Next, make your way to the lesser-known but equally charming San Lorenzo Market. Don’t be afraid to stop along the way to explore the alleyways and any hidden gems you come across.
Browse through the stalls offering leather goods, clothing, and local crafts.
Pick up your souvenirs for friends and family, treat yourself to a new leather wallet, and don’t forget to stop by Mercato di San Lorenzo to sample delicious local foods.
For your entree, fill up on samples of artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and bread with local olive oil. Not only is this great for your tastebuds but also your wallet. Traveling Europe on a budget is possible after all! And for lunch, grab a savory panini or a bowl of pasta fresca!
Basilica Di Santa Croce
Basilica Di Santa Croce is one of the places that you really should visit during your 2 days in Florence!

For an afternoon filled with culture and history, head to Basilica di Santa Croce. Often referred to as the “Temple of the Italian Glories,” this grand basilica is a symbol of artistic and intellectual achievement.
This beautiful church is the final resting place of several notable figures, including Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, and Niccolò Machiavelli.
“The guide was knowledgeable, extremely informative and hilarious. He took the time to make sure everyone understood the history, got to enjoy each site, and stopped at the best spots for photos. He even helped people take photos to ensure they could capture the memories. Would definitely highly recommend!”

Continue your journey through Florence’s artistic heritage by visiting the Bargello Museum. This former prison showcases an impressive collection of Renaissance sculptures, including works by Donatello and Michelangelo.
Take your time to appreciate the intricate details and craftsmanship of these masterpieces. There is just so much history exuding from the walls, it’s well worth the visit.
Piazzale Michelangelo
As night falls, make your way to the picturesque Piazzale Michelangelo. One of the best panoramic viewpoints, take a moment to soak in Florence as a whole, especially at sunset.
Take some gorgeous photos and pinch yourself as you feast your eyes on the magnificent city.
Local Trattoria For Dinner
End your first day of your 2 days in Florence adventure with a delightful dinner at a local trattoria, indulging in traditional Tuscan flavors.
I recommend, Hosteria del Brico a small, cozy spot with cheerful staff, delicious Tuscan delights, and a wonderful atmosphere.
