Hydrophobic and acrophobic but I’m slowly getting past that. I will do anything just to add a new experience to my ever growing list. The world of travel inspires me. It helps me write and it fills my very being with a passion that nothing else can replace.
Many years ago, when we were still dating Shawn said something to me that stuck with me. He said, “If someone ever tries to clip your wings, you will escape and run away!” I never understood what he meant till recently.
8 years as a nurse were spent studying, working in a trauma unit and getting a Master’s degree in Cardiovascular Thoracic nursing. Big words! You got that right. It also meant a lot of hard work. I didn’t mind. The life of a nurse in India is one fraught with little to no job satisfaction and almost nonexistent pay.
Getting married meant a change in city, a change in outlook and a chance to redo my life. (This where the clipping of the wings and escaping comes into play!) Much to the astonishment of everyone I decided to leave everything and try something new. Not everyone agreed with this plan. In fact I’ve got plenty of criticism for it. And guess what! I still do!
I loved to write so that’s where I started. At first it was short stories. Then it was content writing. Somewhere along the line I even managed some animal rescue work. I made friends with people in Netherlands during our short stay there. They inspired me and motivated me to push through for every initiative receives a resistance. It is only true belief that pushes you through!
The travel bug bit me somewhere in between. While Shawn has been all over the globe, I had just four countries to my list. Most Indians would be happy with that because it is four more than most. The restless side of me was not satiated and I doubt it ever will be.
