I hadn’t heard about Anduki Park in Brunei till a friend mentioned it in a passing conversation. In fact, when I went to search for it on Google maps, I found that it wasn’t even marked!
Luckily, I remembered more or less where he said it was and Shawn said that he remembered stopping at it during his defensive driving course. So we put it on our list of places to visit in Brunei. We finally made it to Anduki Park a day after we headed to Lambir Hills National Park since we expected it to be an easier walk and we were not disappointed.
Location Of Anduki Park
Anduki Park is surprisingly easy to find. It is located at the side of the Anduki airfield and is located just a few kilometres away from Seria. This makes the park a great place to visit if you stay in the Kuala Belait and Seria area. It is easily accessible, has plenty of facilities including a large parking spot and is gorgeous so I would highly recommend putting it on the map.
What Makes Anduki Park So Perfect?
There are a variety of things that make the park special. In fact, the park is situated around Taman Rekreasi Jubli Anduki Lake.
Unlike the other parks situated around or near lakes like Luagan Park in Labi Hills Reserve or Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park, the Anduki Park is well maintained and seems to be frequented by a lot of people. There are a lot of activities that can be carried out in the park which is also what makes it popular. So what an you do at the park?
Kids Play Area
Kid’s Play area at Anduki Park.
One of the popular reasons why people frequent the lakeside park is so that the kids can play on the variety of outdoor equipment that the park provides. From swings to seesaws, the park has it all. One nice thing is that since everything is well maintained, parents don’t have to worry too much about their children getting hurt.
Barbeque Parties
Barbeque area at Anduki Park.
Well, I am not sure whether people have actual parties at the park but there are a number of grills that are strategically placed and they definitely looked like that had been used. We visited Anduki Park during Ramadan so it wasn’t a wonder that these were bare at that time. The grills were well maintained and there were seating arrangements close by. All in all, it looked well planned.
Take A Walk Round The Lake
We walked around a scenic that took us around the lake. It doesn’t complete the entire circuit but it is really quiet and pretty. Towards the end, the path wasn’t in the best condition, but it wasn’t too bad as long as you watched your step.
Watch The Sunset
While you can’t see where the lake joins the sea, the setting sun does make a beautiful spectacle every evening. We bit adieu to the waning light as we left quite content with our short trip out.
Warning: While the lake looks really inviting, swimming isn’t advised due to crocodiles that are present in the water.
I really wish that I hadn’t left exploring this lake to the very last week as it would have become one of my favourite spots for our evening walks. Not that the beach in front of our house is bad but sometimes it just feels great to mix things up if you know what I mean.
