1. Brunei
Brunei is the country that I have spent the most time in. Three months to be precise. The tiny country lies on the island of Borneo and is sandwiched by Malaysia on all sides. Don’t let its size fool you. There is a lot to explore in the country but very few other than those who live there, set out to see the diversity it has.
Bandar Seri Begawan
Bandar is a surprisingly beautiful place to visit in February in Asia
LOCATION: Bandar Seri Begawan
GETTING THERE: You can get into Bandar Seri Begawan through Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with Royal Brunei Airlines. You could also fly into Malaysian Borneo and cross the border at Miri in Sarawak.
WHERE TO STAY: There aren’t many choices, but I would highly suggest staying in the central area so that you don’t have to take public transportation (which is lacking) to see all the sites. For this reason, I recommend the Radisson Hotel Brunei which is a reasonably priced 4* hotel in the center of the city. They can also help organize safe transportation to anywhere you may wish to go.
When considering a trip to Southeast Asia, particularly the island of Borneo, many people skip the tiny nation of Brunei. It’s an often overlooked part of the world (not just when it comes to February in Asia!) and also one of the least visited as tourists often vie for Malaysian or Indonesian Borneo, Sabah/Sarawak and Kalimantan respectively.
Yet a visit to Brunei, or Brunei Darussalam (abode of peace in Malay), is packed with activities from unspoilt nature to royal palaces. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, has a great museum where you can learn about the culture and history of the country. You can also visit the lavish Royal Regalia Museum to get a glimpse of the Sultan’s excesses.
An interesting fact about Brunei is that is one of the last remaining countries in the world with an absolute monarch, Sultan Bolkiah. Istana Nurul, the Royal Palace in Brunei, is the world’s largest palace and family residence with 1,800 rooms and can only be visited by the public at the end of Ramadan.
If you can’t make it during Ramadan, February is a great time to visit Brunei as it’s one of the driest months of the year and you can spend time in the capital and the surrounding tropical jungles without worrying about downpours or monsoons. There are also less tourists during this time.
You can gawk at the Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque, the most popular attraction in Brunei. Another popular activity is to make your way to the floating village of Kampong Ayer to see the odd proboscis monkeys and their bulbous noses.
🕌 I recommend a full day tour or even half day tour that helps you visit all the iconic spots in a short duration of time. 📷

2. Japan
Many of my friends have been raving about their experiences in Japan and I have to be honest, this country is definitely on my bucket list. With its delicious food and varied landscape, it is hard to resist the urge to visit. That was why I was glad that someone put it on our list of places to visit in February in Asia.
Hokkaido
Sapporo is another perfect location to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Sapporo Hokkaido
GETTING THERE: There are regular international domestic flights to the New Chitose Airport, which is the largest airport in Hokkaido found just a short distance from Sapporo city centre. For those travelling on a JR Rail Pass in Japan, it is possible to reach Hokkaido from Tokyo (or Honshu) via the Seiken tunnel.
You can also book a cab to take you to the city.
WHERE TO STAY: Due to the popularity of Sapporo at this time of year, it is best to book hotels long in advance and more so during the annual snow festival. If travelling by train it may be cost-effective to stay outside the city centre (the Chitose airport area for example) before travelling in by train.
Sapporo is the capital city of Hokkaido, the northernmost main island of Japan, which is heaped in snow through the winter months. It is also a wild and sparsely populated island (20% of land and 5% of population meaning settlements area few and far between when compared to Honshu. Which may be partly due to the somewhat uninhabitable climates found through winter.
But this works to the advantage of the more adventurous of tourists, as there are just so many opportunities to explore the wilderness of Japan.
Otherwise the central capital city of Hokkaido is Sapporo, and each year in February they celebrate their harsh winter climate with the Sapporo Snow Festival with massive snow and ice sculptures through the full length of Odori Park (Ōdōri Station is just one short subway stop from the main Sapporo station).
But there is a lot more to the festival than snow sculptures (300+ of them) with food stalls scattered through the park, as well as other attractions and events like light and sound shows, outdoor ice skating, and a ‘Park Air Jumping Platform’ for snowboarders.
There are also alternative locations to explore in the city, including Susukino Ice World, and I would forever recommend a train out to experience the Otaru Light Festival on a quick sunset day trip.
🎎 Try this amazing walking tour to see the City Unscripted. 📷

3. India
I’ve lived in India for years and the truth is that the country is so diverse that you can visit in every season and still find the perfect spot. This is because of the landscape which ranges from mountains and deserts to the scenic coast. There are even a couple of islands worth visiting. Hence it comes as no surprise that India made its way to our list of countries to explore in February in Asia.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands
The Andaman and Nicobar islands have many beautiful locations to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Andaman Islands
GETTING THERE: The Andaman Islands are located in the south-eastern part of India. The best way to reach there is to fly in. Port Blair, the capital city of the Andamans is well connected with Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai by regular flights. You can also reach Andaman by cruise from Kolkata and Chennai.
WHERE TO STAY: There are a number of hotels and resorts in the islands of various budgets and categories. At Havelock Island, the best place to stay is near Radhanagar Beach.
The Andaman Islands are one of the most beautiful, yet lesser-explored destinations in India. February is a perfect time to visit the tropical island when the weather remains extremely pleasant.
The Andaman Islands are actually a part of the Andaman & Nicobar group of Islands comprising of 572 islands located at the junction of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Out of these, only 38 are inhabited and you cannot even visit all of them.
The archipelago is a delight for both tourists and backpackers alike. The Andamans boast of pristine beaches, blue seas and some of the best diving spots in South Asia. There are several interesting places to visit in Andaman.
Port Blair is the capital city and is the entry point of the Andamans. You can make day trips to some of the islands like North Bay Island, Ross Island, Chidiya Tapu. While islands like Havelock, Neil and North Andaman require you to stay there for at least a day.
Havelock Island is the most frequented place in the Andamans and is undoubtedly the most beautiful one too. Havelock has some of the best beaches and diving spots on the island. The next one demanding attention is Neil Island which is equally beautiful and tranquil. If time permits, you should also visit the Baratang Island, Diglipur and North Andaman.
With sun, sea and sand, the Andamans is a perfect place to explore and enjoy in February in Asia. You can visit the beaches, the museums and indulge in water sports, or simply spend a relaxing time there. Whatever you do, you will surely enjoy at the Andamans.
🌴Do not miss the opportunity to go on the Marine Trail to explore the mangroves.🚣♂️

Rajasthan
Have you ever thought of putting Rajasthan on the list of places to visit in February in Asia.
LOCATION: Rajasthan is in the northwest of India. It includes the famed pink city Jaipur, the blue city Jodhpur, the golden city Jaisalmer and the white city Udaipur. The cities sit in the Thar Desert, which makes up most of Rajasthan.
GETTING THERE: International flights to India usually go through Delhi, but Jaipur has a regional airport with frequent connections form Delhi. The train also connects most major places. Hiring a car and driver is also a great option. It’s surprisingly cheap and gives you a lot of flexibility.
WHERE TO STAY: This was home to the Raja’s (princes) and nobles, and many former palaces and mansion houses are now heritage hotels. It is hard to beat staying in them.
They include the incredibly opulent Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, where the current Raja still lives, and the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, which forms an entire island in the middle of Udaipur’s main lake. For a cheaper option, I love the Samode Palace Hotel in Samode, a short distance from Jaipur.
February is a perfect time to visit Rajasthan. It gets hot in summer, but February is cool(er) and dry. Highlights in Jaipur include Hawa Mahal, the incredibly beautiful pink Palace of the Wind. For a unique experience in Jaipur, take a class in woodblock printing and learn to make the gorgeous fabrics that are also for sale in the markets.
In Jodhpur, you can spend hours exploring the jumbled streets of the blue houses that give the city its nickname and the dramatic Mehrangarh Fort. You can even zip line from the fort into the nearby hills and back again.
The golden fortress of Jaisalmer rises out of the desert like a gorgeous confection from a fantasy novel. Explore the narrow alleys and shops before heading out of town on a multi-day camel trek into the Thar Desert, sleeping on sand dunes under the stars at night.
In Udaipur, take a boat ride across the lake, visit the stunning City Palace and eat delicious Indian food by the lakeshore for incredible food and views.
Other highlights of Rajasthan include the havelis (colored houses) of Nawalgarh, which is also a great place to learn other traditional handicrafts like bandhani (tie and dye) and bangle-making, and the geometric shapes of the step wells of Bundi. Rajasthan is truly the jewel in India’s crown.
🐪I recommend taking this amazing tour that covers the key highlights of Rajasthan and Jaipur. 📸

Goa
Goa is a gorgeous location to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Goa
GETTING THERE: The nearest international airport is Goa International Airport in South Goa, which you can reach via regular connecting flights from Mumbai or Delhi.
WHERE TO STAY: In Goa, your accommodation options range from rustic beach huts to five-star resorts. For something in between, try the beautifully boho Palm Forest Palolem. Set in lush gardens, it has boutique eco beach huts, an onsite restaurant and a yoga shala where teachers offer a daily schedule of classes.
February is the tail end of the tourist season in Goa, so you’ll benefit from wonderful weather without the crowds. It’s the place to come for relaxing beaches with a touch of spirituality. You’re bound to meet people, even if you’re on a solo trip to Goa.
Don’t miss Arambol in North Goa, where you’ll find hippie stalls selling bohemian clothes and handcrafted souvenirs. There’s plenty of live music and restaurants serving local and international vegetarian-friendly cuisine.
There is an array of yoga and meditation workshops here, as well as the legendary Saturday Night Market a short taxi trip away, so you will never be short of something to do. I loved this free-spirited town.
In the South, check out the beautiful Palolem beach. Here, you can enjoy a divine Ayurvedic massage, dine at one of the romantic beach restaurants or take a stroll through the coconut groves and jungle to the neighboring beach of Patnem.
Nearby is the tranquil setting of Agonda beach which has fabulous sunset views that you can feel like you are enjoying all to yourself. Sit back, unwind and make the most of the opportunity to relax and reconnect in gorgeous Goa.
☀️ I recommend getting the taste of the real Goa with a Heritage walk around Panjim. 🏖️

Mangalore
Mangalore is another location in India that is worth spending February in Asia
LOCATION: Mangalore
GETTING THERE: Mangalore has an airport with direct flights to major Indian cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad and international destinations such as Dubai, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and a few other Middle Eastern cities.
WHERE TO STAY: For a luxurious holiday experience, stay at Taj Manjarun.
Mangalore is a port city and a major commercial hub in South India. Yet, when it comes to tourism, few people know about it. Mangalore has a lot to offer for visitors from beaches to temples to delicious food.
Mangalore beaches are quiet and secluded with the exception of Panambur beach, which the locals love to visit on weekends. If you prefer visiting a secluded mangalore beach, visit Tannir Bhavi beach, Someshwara or Sasihitlu beach.
However, as with any secluded place in India, please take precautions for safety. Other places of interest are the Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple in Kadri, Kudroli temple, Kadri Park, Pilikula and Hampankatta market.
When you plan a visit to Mangalore, make sure you take your time as Mangalore experiences very hot and humid summers that I find unbearable. In the monsoon season, the sea is rough and swimming in the beaches is not recommended.
Also, the rainfall would be so heavy that you would probably prefer staying at home. Hence, the months from December to February is perhaps the best time to visit as the temperatures are mild and there’s little to no rain.
☀️I recommend a Mangalore guided tour to feel the true pulse of the city. 🏖️

Hampi
Hampi is an interesting location to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Hampi
GETTING THERE: There are night trains to Hampi from either Bangalore or Mumbai
WHERE TO STAY: Virupapur gaddi has plenty of small-scale guesthouses. Chinni homestay was a lovely experience.
Hampi was the capital of the ancient Vijayanagar empire in the 14th century. It was a wealthy and prosperous city full of temples until it was destroyed by the Arabs in 1565. Hampi was left in ruins, but because of the active Virupaksha temple it remains an important religious centre for Hindus.
Hampi is now a UNESCO World heritage site and for good reasons. Hampi’s ruins are spectacular with more than 1600 remains of temples, palaces, horse stables, bazaars, Ganesh statues and other structures. They are remarkably well preserved, and the inscriptions and detailed carvings tell thousands of stories.
3 days is the minimum amount of time you need, but there is so much to explore that you can easily spend weeks in this area. There are a couple of 1 day tours that cover the highlights though. The monuments are rather spread out and you can either rent a motorbike or tuk tuk.
The most popular ruins are around the still active Virupaksha temple and the ancient Vittala stone chariot. To get off the beaten path there are also some interesting temples near the village of Anegundi. The rocky landscape is just as spectacular, and most temples have a very scenic location.
February is without doubt the best time to visit. Hampi can be unbearingly hot in summer and wet during the monsoon, but February brings pleasant temperatures and dry weather.
🛕Book a private guide and car for a comfortable tour to keep cool while its hot or dry while its wet. 📸

4. Indonesia
Another country that certainly deserved its spot on our list of places to visit in February in Asia is Indonesia. While I personally have not been to the country in February, there are others who have and confirm that it is a good time to visit. Want to know where to head to? Check out the options below.
Ubud
Ubud is a great place to spend February in Asia if you are looking for to experience some Indonesian culture.
LOCATION: Ubud, Bali
GETTING THERE: Taxi or private transfer from Bali Airport
WHERE TO STAY: Alaya Resort
February is a great month to visit Ubud. Technically, it’s still low season, so you won’t find the myriad of tourists trying to get their Insta-perfect shots that you find during all other months.
You’ll be able to visit all the famous things to see in Ubud, with not too many people around, and you might also be able to snag some amazing deals on accommodation. However, don’t expect to have Ubud to yourself as this simply doesn’t happen!
February is still rainy season, and the frequent downpours offer a great respite from the crazy heat. If the rain is too much for your liking, fear not – you can treat yourself to a nice massage from a spa, followed by a flower bath of course, go for a yoga lesson or sound healing ceremony, and maybe even visit a shaman or fortune teller. I did, and it was one of the highlights of my time in Bali!
Other unmissable Ubud experiences are visiting the Tegallalang rice terraces, which are usually not too busy in February. I am not a fan of the monkey forest, but you simply can’t miss visiting Tirta Empul, the famous water temple.
🌾I recommend a tour to check out Bali’s most popular attractions📸
By Margherita from The Crowded Planet
5. Laos
While we have not personally visited Laos, it has been brought to our attention that it is an excellent place to visit in February in Asia.
The scenic landscape of the country definitely has an allure to it. When I think of Laos I think of gorgeous waterfalls and quiet countryside. Let’s take a look at the options that travel bloggers have suggested.
Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang is an amazing place to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Luang Prabang, Laos
GETTING THERE: Luang Prabang has an airport which is served by international destinations in Asia and domestic destinations including Vientiane. Alternatively, you can arrive in Luang Prabang overland, including from nearby popular Vang Vieng (185km, 5-8 hours).
WHERE TO STAY: Luang Prabang has the biggest range of accommodation in Laos, from budget hostels to luxury boutique hotels. In the vibrant Old Quarter, check out Villa Ban Lakkham (budget-ish), Lotus Villa Boutique Hotel (mid-range) or splash out at the luxe boutique Hotel 3 Nagas (luxury). Expect to pay more for accommodation in Luang Prabang than elsewhere in Laos.
February is the ideal month to visit Luang Prabang as the tropical climate is (relatively!) cool and dry, with lower humidity levels. It’s also one of the most popular months to visit, but don’t let that deter you – Laos receives far fewer tourists than other Southeast Asian hotspots like Thailand, and it’s still possible to find your own slice of paradise in Luang Prabang.
Luang Prabang offers the perfect fusion of culture and nature, with activities to keep all types of travellers happy. The undisputed crown jewel of Luang Prabang is the picturesque French colonial Old Quarter, which is one of the best-preserved old towns in all of Southeast Asia.
The Old Quarter is packed with colourful buildings, intricate Buddhist temples and surprisingly top notch bars and restaurants. For sweeping views over the Old Quarter, take the short walk up Mount Phousi hill.
The old town is also surrounded by a winding river where you can take a river cruise to the Pak Ou Caves with mini Buddha figures, or cross the bamboo bridges on foot during the dry season.
Slightly further afield, don’t miss the tranquil Luang Prabang countryside and stunning Kuang Si waterfalls around 30km from town. Kuang Si is a cascading three level waterfall where you can take a dip in the refreshing pools. With its mix of quaint old town and natural wonders, it’s easy to see why Luang Prabang is one of the most popular places to visit in Laos.
🐒 I recommend this tour to check out the UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as local haunts 📸
By Claire from The Adventurous Flashpacker
Vientiane
Vientiane in Laos is another perfect place to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Vientiane
GETTING THERE: Vientiane’s Wattay International Airport is serviced by regular domestic and international connections to and from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Korea and Singapore. Alternatively, there are multiple domestic and international bus services to and from Vientiane.
WHERE TO STAY: Vientiane has multiple accommodation options ranging from hostels and budget accommodation through to high-end luxury accommodation. I stayed at the Salana Boutique Hotel for its beautiful views over Wat Ong Teu and its central location.
February is a great time to visit the laid-back capital of Vientiane, Laos. With mild daytime temperatures and very little rainfall, exploring Vientiane in February means you’ll escape the unrelenting heat and humidity of the hotter months, yet the city is still surrounded by green countryside and a full and flowing Mekong River.
Feeling more like a giant village than the capital city it is, compact Vientiane is easily navigable on foot or by bicycle. Climb the French-inspired Patuxay Victory Monument for stunning views over central Vientiane before discovering golden Pha That Luang, Laos’ most important cultural monument.
Be enchanted with the many historic, gilded temples such as the stunning columned Wat Ho Phra Keo or historic Wat Sisaket with its more than six thousand Buddha images. Learn about the devastating ongoing effects of the Secret War in Laos with a sobering visit to the COPE Visitor Centre or MAG UXO Center.
And don’t forget to sample some delicious Lao food at the riverside night market or an upmarket urban café. Of course, no visit to Vientiane would be complete without witnessing a magnificent sun set over the mighty Mekong River with a cold BeerLao in hand.
🛕 I recommend this food tour to taste some of the amazing local delicacy’s 📸
By Marie from A Life Without Borders
6. Macau
Macau is the perfect destination to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Macau
GETTING THERE: Macau is easily accessed in several ways. Either fly into Macau International Airport or take a ferry from Hong Kong. There are two ferry terminals in Macau – Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal right next to the airport and the Macau Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal on Macau Peninsula.
If you are traveling to Macau by ferry, it’s best to check which terminal is closest to your accommodation first. There is also an option to bus from Hong Kong via the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge, but it will require a bit more planning.
WHERE TO STAY: Macau has no shortage of excellent accommodation options. Stay along the Cotai Strip in one of the fancy casinos if you’re looking to treat yourself. Culture seekers looking for something a bit more budget-friendly might want to consider staying near the historic Old City instead.
Macau is a bustling little hub in East Asia, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the past. With its age-old traditions influenced by former Portuguese and Chinese settlers, Macau is an excellent example of a city that seamlessly blends old and new.
Although Macau might be best known today for its glitzy casinos, the city has so much more to offer travelers. Besides its skyscraper-studded skyline and a chance to win the jackpot, Macau is also extremely photogenic. The city is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with more than 20 incredible architectural gems worthy of your time.
Spend your time exploring all the nooks and crannies, wandering along cobblestone streets, and ducking into centuries-old temples. Visiting some of the most iconic landmarks in the city such as St. Paul’s Ruins, the colourful Senado Square and A-Ma Temple should not be missed on your visit here either. Further afield, stop by Coloane to try the best pasteis de nata in town before discovering more Instagrammable places in Macau at Taipa Village.
Macau is exceptionally compact, making it quickly explored in 2-3 days. A visit during February will still be chilly, but as the Chinese New Year celebrations are over, it’s safe to expect lower prices and fewer tourists.
🎰 If you are pressed for time you can quickly see Macau with this tour that takes you to Macau from Hong Kong for a day📸

7. Malaysia
I fell in love with Malaysia and I do not think there is a single month of the year in which I would not visit the country. That is why I was not surprised when a couple of people suggested adding Malaysia to the list of places to visit in February in Asia. Take a look at the suggestions that were offered.
Penang
There is much to see in Penang and it is also the perfect place to spend february in Asia.
LOCATION: Penang Island
GETTING THERE: Penang has an international airport connected to most major Asian air hubs such as Bangkok, Yangon, Hanoi, and Hong Kong. Otherwise, you can easily connect to Penang via Kuala Lumpur KLIA2 airport. If arriving overland, Butterworth, Penang’s transport hub on Malaysia’s mainland, is connected by railway to Hat Yay in Southern Thailand.
WHERE TO STAY: Ren I Tang
This tropical island off the north-western coast of Malaysia is a perfect place to visit in February. It’s right after the monsoon season and before the start of high tourist season, and just about when the hottest temperatures start peaking down.
Well renown around the world for its street food scene, and a rising spot for digital nomads, Penang has a lot of things to do for first-timers.
Whether you decide to start spending your time in George Town soaking colonial heritage building and a sophisticated art scene or zooming to the many beaches and durian farms strewn along the island’s southwestern reaches, Penang won’t disappoint anyone. Hiking? Try Penang Hill.
If traveling with children, Penang also offers several great kid-friendly spots and theme parks such as Escape, with the world’s longest waterslide, and the Habitat, an eco-park set on top of Penang Hill. You can take a zipline across the forest canopy and pretend to be a flying lemur for a while.
🍜 Through your trip I recommend taking a break from the sites and go for a food tour to delight your taste buds with the local Penang cuisine. 📸

8. Pakistan
As an Indian heading to Pakistan is really difficult. It is largely due to the conflict between both countries. That is why I was so glad that people suggested adding a couple of places in Pakistan to our list of places to visit in February in Asia. I can only hope that one day I will be lucky enough to see them with my own eyes.
Lahore
Lahore is intriguing and it is also a great place to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Lahore
GETTING THERE: Lahore has an international airport, so it’s easy to fly in via Middle Eastern hubs like Dubai and Qatar. More adventurous souls can cross the Wagah border between India and Pakistan. Yes, you can cross despite the two countries’ tensions!
Home to a border closing ceremony of silly walks and ear-splitting patriotism, the Wagah border is one of the most famous border crossings in the world. From the border. it’s about 45 minutes to Lahore by taxi or rickshaw.
WHERE TO STAY: Lahore is an enormous city with plenty of accommodation. The best area to stay in is along Mall Road. Mall Road is one of the main arteries into the city, lined with beautiful colonial buildings.
The Pearl Continental is the most renowned luxury hotel. For mid-range options, Airbnb is a good place to start looking. For backpackers, Lahore Backpackers and Regal Internet Inn are right at the end of Mall Road.
Lahore is an exhilarating city for travellers who thrive on culture, food, and friendly people. Countless Mughal-era monuments are buried within its masses of people and traffic. Food is a kind of religion in Lahore. Cultured Lahoris love their city, and they’re happy to share that passion with you.
Lahore is hot most of the time, with summer temperatures reaching up to 50°C. February, however, is quite cool, with an average daytime temperature of 22°C—the perfect temperature for exploring Lahore’s Walled City monuments like Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque, and much, much more.
🕌 I recommend booking the Lahore one day tour for a guided experience and to avoid some some of the common tourist traps📸

Peshawar
Peshawar in Pakistan is definitely a place that you should put on your list of places to visit in February in Asia
LOCATION: Peshawar
GETTING THERE: Peshawar is easily accessible by bus from either Lahore or Islamabad, both major cities with international airports. From Lahore, the ride will take about 5 hours and from Islamabad about 3. Daewoo and Faisal Movers are Pakistan’s best bus companies, and charge around $5 for the trip.
WHERE TO STAY: The best value place you can find in Peshawar as a foreign tourist is Emaraat Hotel, which charges around $20 a night for a comfortable stay. For upscale travellers, a few 5-star hotels exist such as the Pearl Continental which should cost ~ $100/ night.
Tip: Peshawar is also full of friendly locals, so if Couchsurfing piques your interest- this is a great place to give it a try!
Peshawar in Pakistan, commonly known as the city of flowers, is one of the oldest cities in Asia- and absolutely ideal place to visit in February in Asia. During much of the year, Peshawar is encased in a thick, sticky heat that makes it hard to muster up any desire to leave an A/C room and explore- but February is perfect, as temperatures usually hover around 60-70 F and come with sunny skies and low humidity – all perfect for some historical sight-seeing.
But what to do in this ancient city? You could spend weeks exploring it all but if you only have a weekend, here’s what you can’t miss:
- Take a trip to the Old City and check out Mahabat Khan Mosque, a Mughal-era relic.
- Visit the Khyber Pass Gate, a monument that leads to one of the most important parts of what used to be the Silk Road.
- Poke around at the Peshawar Museum, famous throughout Pakistan and known for its Buddhist artwork collection.
- Stuff your face at Charsi Tikka- one of Peshawar’s most famous food spots cooking up some of the tastiest meat in Pakistan.
Aside from actual attractions, the best way to get to know Peshawar is by exploring the Old City and just seeing where you end up – but don’t be surprised if you find yourself ready to explode after all the tea offers you’re likely to receive though!
Keep in mind that Peshawar is a conservative city, and it’s best for both women and men to wear the local shalwar khameez – aka the most comfortable thing on this planet- and for women to wear a hijab. Although it’s not a law or anything, being respectful of cultural norms and customs goes a long way here. Plus if you’re keen to make some friends- locals love to see tourists in traditional clothing!
🕌 If you are looking for a bit more comfort I would recommend this tour with a private car and a guide. 📸

9. Philippines
We visited the Philippines in December and it was gorgeous. A couple of travel bloggers suggested that the country is also a great place to visit in February in Asia. The things about the Philippines is there are so many islands to choose from. Here are a couple of suggestions to help narrow down the list.
Coron
Coron is a gorgeous place to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Coron, Palawan
GETTIG THERE: You can easily get to Coron island from Manila, the main hub to all the islands in the Philippines, there are a variety of regional and local carriers that fly directly to Coron and the Palawan area.
WHERE TO STAY: Hotels are in a full range of luxury, mid-range to even affordable hostel and Air Bnb type accommodations, book early or you’ll have a difficult time securing hotels if you get on the island and it is peak season typically from December to February time frame.
One of the most pleasant vacations you can do in February in the Philippines would be visiting Coron islands in the northern part of the Palawan chain of islands. With easy one hour flights from Manila and a variety of carriers to choose from, Coron is a great choice with amazing beaches, cool islands to explore, wonderful seafood and a funky downtown district to walk through.
The main reason for visiting Coron is to take any of the 4 basic island tour packages exploring the unique beaches, islands and water activities through these tour operators which you can easily book with any agency you’ll find all around Coron town ( Or you can easily just go to the harbor area in the morning and there are a slew of bankas, local boats that you can book a tour on).
In town you can enjoy some lovely drinks or dinner, get a nice massage or go souvenir shopping along the bay front area of town. There are other places of interest to visit around Coron including a hot springs area, secluded beaches or drives with scenic viewpoints around town.
🏝️Do not miss booking your island tour, its the main highlight in Coron. 📸

Siargao
Siargao in the Philippines is another interesting location to visit in February in Asia
LOCATION: Siargao
GETTING THERE: Siargao is a fairly isolated island and it certainly feels that way while you’re there. Getting there however is pretty easy. The quickest way to get to Siargao is by plane. Direct flights leave from Manila daily with Cebu Pacific and take 2.5 hours.
Philippines Airlines also flies there, but expect the journey to take around 3-7 hours with a layover in Cebu or Davao. You can also fly directly into Cebu (skipping Manila altogether) and take the ferry across.
WHERE TO STAY: All of the action in Siargao happens around the Cloud 9 area, the island’s famous surf spot. There are plenty of resorts along the coast, many of which offer surf lessons for an affordable price. If you’re not worried about surf lessons then Reef Beach Resort is a friendly spot with beach access, delicious breakfasts and cute pet dogs.
Siargao is a beautiful island that feels rugged and untouched yet has plenty of amazing restaurants and welcoming locals. There are plenty of wonderful things to do on Siargao, even if you’re not into surfing. From famous smoothie bowls to island hopping trips, Siargao has something for everyone.
February falls right at the end of the rainy season in the Philippines, making it a great time to visit. You’ll avoid the crowds that can appear during the busy season, but you’ll still have pretty good weather. You may have the odd rainy day, but it doesn’t really matter in Siargao – it just adds to the atmosphere.
🏝️I recommend this full day island hopping tour its a perfect way to take in the neighboring smaller islands 📸

10. Qatar
Qatar is a lesser talked about destination but it certainly has its perks. I was glad that someone added it to the list of places that you should consider visiting in February in Asia. Let’s take a look at why you should mark it on the map as a future destination.
Doha
Doha is definitely another intriguing place to visit in February in Asia.
LOCATION: Doha
GETTING THERE: Flight is the only option for most foreigners since Qatar’s only land border is with Saudi Arabia. Qatar Airways flies from many destinations in Europe, North America and Africa.
WHERE TO STAY: The West Bay is a good area to stay in, as it provides easy access to the Corniche and other city center attractions. Another central option is Souq Waqif, which offers a more traditional Middle Eastern experience.
February is the ideal time to visit Doha, the capital of Qatar, as it’s one of the few months of the year when the temperatures are actually pleasant. Western expats living in Doha often joke that they look tanned in the winter but pasty white in the summer, because during the hot months they spend all their time indoors in the air conditioning to escape the heat.
In February, on the other hand, the average high temperature is a very manageable 24 degrees Celsius, while the average low is a balmy 17 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is pretty infrequent, so the weather is ideal for sitting outside on a rooftop terrace and enjoying a puff on a shisha (traditional water tobacco pipe).
It’s great swimming weather too, of course. Be mindful of local customs before you strip down to your bikini, but several resort hotels that cater to foreigners have private beaches where swimsuits are allowed. Or just do as the locals do and take a leisurely stroll along the Corniche, enjoying the expansive views out to the Arabian Gulf.
One attraction on the Corniche that you won’t want to miss is the Museum of Islamic Art. Designed by famous architect I.M. Pei at the ripe old age of 91, the building itself is considered to be a masterpiece of modern architecture.
Inside, you’ll find exhibitions of Islamic art from various regions of the world, spanning 12 centuries. Just next to the museum is Souq Waqif, where your senses will be bombarded by the sights, sounds and smells of this traditional market. The restaurants in this area are a great place to try some traditional Middle Eastern cuisine.
🏜️ I recommend this Private Half Day Desert Safari. It includes Camel Riding, Falcons and even Sand Surfing📸

11. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a destination that is often overlooked. During summer the heat can make travel across the country a little tedious especially if you aren’t used to dealing with the soaring temperatures. That is what makes it a great country to spend February in Asia. The cooler climate makes exploring easy since most of the tourist destinations are outdoors.
Galle
Galle is a beautiful place to visit in February in Asia.
LOCATION: Galle
GETTING THERE: Galle is well connected to the rest of Sri Lanka via public transport. There are frequent buses from Colombo, the capital, and from other cities such as Mirissa or Tangalle.
WHERE TO STAY: Galle has a wealth of excellent accommodation options. Prince of Galle is a fantastic boutique hotel with rooms in colonial style, and it is located inside the fort.
Galle is the prettiest city in Sri Lanka. It is a small fortified town where you will have ample choice of things to do; going from cultural experiences to nature and beaches getaways, as well as lovely hotels and excellent restaurants.
In Galle, you will be able to learn more about the history of Sri Lanka. Make sure to take a walk along the ramparts to admire the beautiful lighthouse as well as the Clock Tower. The nicest part of the city is that inside the fort – it is a maze of narrow cobbled alleys with colorful doors and flowers pouring out of gardens onto the streets.
You will find many nice art galleries and small boutiques where you will be able to go shopping. One of them is particularly recommended as profits go to support the community of stray dogs and cats. One of the nicest things to do in Galle is admiring the sunset. Make sure to head to the ramparts a bit before and enjoy the show along with other tourists and locals.
For a day outside of town, head to Unawatuna beach or go on a day trip to Mirissa, where you may be able to spot the last men still practicing stilt fishing. Not far from Unawatuna, make sure to visit the Japanese Pagoda – it’s a bit of a walk to get there, but the views are worth it!
🐋 I recommend booking a tour to snorkel with the whales. February is the right season and you can take back a truly memorable experience. 📸

12. Thailand
Thailand is a popular destination among travellers across the world. Its varied landscape and long coastline make it a tempting choice. Given that the two coasts receive rainfall at different times of the year means that Thailand is a year-round destination. Which is why it definitely had to make it to our list of places to visit in February in Asia.
Koh Ngai
The gorgeous blue waters of Koh Ngai is one of the reasons why you should consider putting it on your list of places to visit in February in Asia.
LOCATION: Koh Ngai
GETTING THERE: Koh Ngai is easy to get to, especially in February and high season, speed boats and ferries link the island to Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Phuket, Phi Phi and many other islands, as well as the mainland at Pak Meng.
WHERE TO STAY: Thapwarin Resort
February is the perfect time to visit the island of Koh Ngai in Thailand. It is just in the sweet spot where the weather is perfect, but the peak crowds of Christmas and January have died down. You can expect perfect blue skies every day and lovely warm and calm seas.
As it is still high season it is easy to get here with plenty of boat services every day. It is a bit quieter in February, but it is still worth booking your accommodation in advance to be sure that you get the room and price that you like best.
There is one main beach here that stretches for a couple of miles. It is the main attraction of the island and you will find nice soft white sand, shallow water and a reef with a few snorkelling spots right from the beach. It is a great place to relax and enjoy some spectacular views to some stunning rocky karst islands rising out of the beautiful turquoise sea. You’ll see hornbills fly overhead and monitor lizards stomping along the beaches.
For more adventure, you can hire kayaks and paddle round to other beaches around the island, or head across the open water to the karst islands that frame the view. If you are feeling energetic you can do a short jungle hike across the island to Paradise Beach and beyond to a panoramic viewpoint.
🏊 If you are on a quick trip and cannot spend a night on Koh Ngai, I recommend this tour from Koh Lanta. 📸

Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta in Thailand is a perfect place to spend February in Asia
LOCATION: Koh Lanta
GETTING THERE: Fly into Krabi airport and from there take a shared mini-van to Koh Lanta for about US$ 22 which lasts about four hours. Taxis are also available but are more on the pricier side.
WHERE TO STAY: CAT Bungalow on Khlong Khong Beach is the perfect budget option and is located only a 10 minutes’ walk from the beach.
If you want to travel to a Thai island that’s not overly touristy, Koh Lanta might just be the perfect choice! February is considered the peak season in Thailand but surprisingly Koh Lanta was not overcrowded at all when I visited.
From beach hopping to hiking and kayaking, there’s just so many things to do in Koh Lanta that you’ll need at least four days to get a real taste of this piece of paradise. You can spend your time in Koh Lanta by exploring scenic beaches along the southwest coast, visiting the famous lighthouse at the Mu Koh Lanta National Park, snorkeling on Koh Mook, visiting the Emerald Cave or watching epic fire shows at night.
But the highlight of my trip to Koh Lanta was kayaking with Talabeng Sea Kayaking. Normally I’m not too keen on group tours but this one exceeded my expectations! The group was small, and we spent the day by rock climbing on Koh Phee (Ghost Island), swimming in the most beautiful and secluded beach and kayaking all around Koh Talabeng!
🏊 You can easily visit the neighboring islands with a guided tour, I recommend this tour that takes you to several of the nearby islands including the Emerald cave. 📸

Koh Samui
Koh Samui is a gorgeous location to visit in February in Asia
LOCATION: Koh Samui
GETTING THERE: Koh Samui is located on the Gulf of Thailand, you can fly there from Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other major cities in Thailand. If you are traveling on a budget another alternative is to combine bus+boat or train+boat.
WHERE TO STAY: Novotel Samui Resort Chaweng Beach Kandaburi
Koh Samui is one of the busiest and most famous islands in Thailand, but don’t let these superlatives put you down, there are a lot of awesome things to do in Koh Samui. The island is perfect for first time travellers and also for those who have traveled to Thailand before.
One of the best months to visit Koh Samui is February as the island is not as busy as in December or January, which means fewer travelers, better prices and the weather is warmer. Be ready for beach hopping across the island, from the urban beaches to secluded white sand bays.
Among all the activities to do in Samui, snorkelling, kayaking, sunbathing and cocktail-sipping are my favourites ones. Don’t forget to take a day off from your beach routine to go on a boat trip to Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park.
It’s a day boat tour visiting the natural park where you can hike to incredible viewpoints, visit an emerald lagoon, snorkel with colorful fishes and eat Thai food while cruising through amazing islands and rock formations.
Chaweng Beach is where all the action happens, most of the shops, restaurants, bars and hotels/hostels are located there. If you want a quiet and relaxing holiday find a resort in Lamai Beach or Maenam Beach. For a local vibe and the best seafood, book your room or visit the Bophut area, a fisherman’s village that comes to life after sunset.
🏍️ I recommend this ATV Quad tour of the island📸

Phi Phi Island
Koh Phi Phi island is an amazing place to spend February in Asia.
LOCATION: Phi Phi island
GETTING THERE: The closest international airport is Phuket, from there you have to drive 1-2 hours to the harbour from which you can get the 2 hour ferry to Koh Phi Phi Don.
WHERE TO STAY:
Budget option – Papaya Phi Phi Resort: located on the side of the mountain Papaya Resort has balconies with beautiful views, it’s a bit basic but it’s a lovely place to stay and close to all the nightlife
Mid-range option – Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort: located on the opposite side of the island Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort is a bit fancier, boasting a rooftop pool and sweeping views over the island and bay
The Phi Phi Island is one of my absolute favorite places in February in Asia when it’s prime dry season in the areas around the Andaman Sea. In this part of Thailand in February you can expect temperatures around 30°C, around 10 hours of sunshine a day and very minimal rainfall, around 25mm spread over 4 days.
The weather conditions will be just perfect to enjoy these beautiful islands. The Phi Phi Island have become especially famous because of Maya Bay in Koh Phi Phi Lei, the secret lagoon that featured in Leonardo di Caprio’s movie The Beach. Today Maya Bay has been closed due to over tourism, but you can still visit other parts of the island, which are just as stunning.
Koh Phi Phi Don, the main island and only one with a town on it, also has stunning views and beaches, paired with a chill and fun vibe. In evenings you can walk around the pedestrian town (there are no scooters or cars anywhere on the island!) and enjoy the lively bars and restaurants. On Koh Phi Phi Don there is also a viewpoint you can reach after a short 30-minute hike from which you can see the distinctive shape of the island.
From Koh Phi Phi Don you can go on boat trips around the islands, doing all sorts of fun activities like snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming with luminescent plankton after sundown and just relaxing on board. To me the Phi Phi Island are the definition of chill island vibes and are one of my favourite places to visit in Asia in February.
🏝️ I recommend this Phi Phi Islands Adventure Day Trip with Seaview Lunch📸

13. Vietnam
No matter what time of the year that you travel, Vietnam remains one of those destinations that attracts tourists from all over the world. It therefore came as no surprise that it was put on our list pf places to visit in February in Asia. While at the moment we have Hoi An as one of the entries. We hope to add more to the list.
Hoi An
Hoi An is one of the most beautiful places on our list of destinations to visit in February in Asia
LOCATION: Hoi An
GETTING THERE: The easiest way to get to Hoi An is to fly into the international airport in Danang. From there it is just a 40-minute drive south to Hoi An. It’s easy to arrange for a driver to pick you up from the airport and the private transfer shouldn’t cost you more than $15 USD.
WHERE TO STAY: There are so many beautiful boutique hotels in Hoi An it’s hard to pick a favourite. Little Riverside Hoi An Hotel is a good choice as it’s just a 5-minute walk from Hoi An’s old town and, as the name would imply, it’s located right on the Thu Bon River.
Hoi An is everyone’s favourite little tourist town in Vietnam. Once a French port town, the preserved buildings in the old town are now a fading yellow memory of the town’s history. The old town of Hoi An has been converted into a pedestrian zone where only foot traffic and bicycles are allowed – a welcome break from the endless motorcycle traffic in Vietnam.
At night the town is lit up with colourful Chinese lanterns and candles floating down the river through the centre of town. Feel free to light up your own and make a wish for your loved ones back home. There’s a bustling night market full of Vietnamese food and souvenirs as well. And when you get tired of exploring Hoi An, head to nearby An Bang beach for some relaxation.
You’ll want to be careful about when you visit, though. October and November are monsoon season in Central Vietnam and with the heavy rains the entire town of Hoi An floods.
You can expect the rain to continue well into December and perhaps even January – not ideal weather for exploring Hoi An. Dry Season lasts from February until July and that is why we feel February in the best month to visit. You can expect clear skies and little rain, but the temperatures will still be much cooler than you’ll experience later in the dry season.
🏝️ I recommend this tour that takes you to Ba Na Hills for beautiful views of the Hai Van Pass 📸
