Is Prague worth visiting? I would say yes. Unlike many cities in the world, there seems to be a consensus when it comes to Prague. The city is pretty amazing all year round. It honestly does not stop being magical and there are plenty of things to do in the city so it always leave you wanting more.
My first impressions of Prague however were filled with bustling streets. I have always found it difficult to orient myself in the a new city at night and that’s probably what happened when we reached post sunset.
The city still stunned me because we got a glimpse of it from Prague castle. This was the only thing we did before we headed out for a meal. The view was breathtaking and I highly recommend visiting around this time. This however isn’t the only good part about Prague. There’s more.
Don’t worry. I’m not going leave you with just such a short description. We will delve into all the reasons why Prague is worth visiting in a bit.

Where To Stay In Prague?
Is Prague worth visiting? Well one of the things that will make your trip feel great is choosing the right accommodation. Unfortunately if you want to stay in the heart of the city, you will find that the cost of the accommodation is generally more expensive.
If you stay a little on the outskirts, you will find much cheaper places to stay in. You do have to compromise on accessibility a bit but Prague has excellent public transport so its not a big issue.

Is Prague worth visiting? I get this question a lot when it comes to the big cities which is why I’ve started this series. Talking about Prague, I found that there were very few cons on this city. We really enjoyed it a lot. It is one of the cities that has a mix of experiences.
1. Prague Is Rather Inexpensive
Europe is always very expensive. We have wanted to explore it for a very long time but the combination of high prices and tickets always made us put it off. Lately, we’ve been living in Groningen, the Netherlands. This has made exploring the continent easier.
It also means that I’ve been on the lookout for cities that are rather inexpensive without compromising on seeing Europe, if you know what I mean. Prague is one of those cities that hits all the right notes where cost is concerned and it also has the old school charm that most of us head to Europe searching for.
So is Prague worth visiting? If you want a budget location in Europe then this is definitely a destination that you need to consider.
2. Prague Is Well Connected
Getting to Prague is super easy. It is well connected by both air and rail. So if you are flying internationally, it is also pretty easy to reach. We drove to the city and traversed through Germany to reach it.
It was a long trip but it helped that Prague is close to the German border which makes it great if you want to add it in as part of your road trip through Germany.
3. It Is A Walkable City
One of the things that I always look for when it comes to a big city is walkability. It means that we don’t have to always keep looking for parking. Prague is one of those cities where you will want to don your best walking shoes and pack your camera.
While cities like Budapest can be a bit tough and go as far as strollers and wheelchairs are concerned, we had no such problem in Prague. So is Prague worth visiting if you are traveling with kids? Totally because it is so easy to move about!
4. Public Transport is Cheap And Accessible
One of the things that I really pay attention to when visiting another city is to check out what the local public transportation options are. This is because good transport means that you can stay far away from the main touristy area. So you get better and cheaper accommodation. It also means that you can move about from attraction to attraction easily and quickly.
Prague is one of the cities that has great public transport. This includes trams, buses and the metro lines. There are even routes that run through the night. So you don’t need to rent a car or worry about parking!
5. Prague Has Some Uber Cool Restaurants
Did you know that Prague has some pretty unique restaurants? On our first day in Prague we visited the Vytopna Railway restaurant. Unfortunately we had not made a reservation. I highly recommend you do because the lines are incredibly long.
Luckily for us we arrived just before peak hours and had to wait for 20-30 minutes. Yes! I said that was being lucky so you know just how popular the restaurant is. The theme is pretty unique and everything is served by trains!
But this is not the only unique themed restaurant in the city. Café Savoy, Naše maso, Kampa Park are some other notable restaurant.
We did not have time to try them though so I can’t comment on how good the food here is. I can just say that I’ve read some rave reviews about them. So yes, is Prague worth visiting? Totally especially for people who love to have unique food experiences.
6. The Food Scene In Prague Is Amazing
Are you a self proclaimed foodie? Then Prague is definitely the place for you. We visited in autumn and found the center of the city filled with so many stalls that were selling all kinds of delicious food. Roasted meat was the theme and the quantities served up were enough to feed an army. Okay, I may have exagerated with that but a plate was definitely enough to feed the four of us.
One of the things that you should really try when you are in Prague is the chimney cakes or trdelnik. I’ve tried them in so many cities but none have even matched the ones we had in Prague. Seriously! So eat up as many as you can!
Is Prague worth visiting if you are a foodie? Definitely. Just bring a large appetite!
7. Prague Has An Active Nightlife
Generally speaking it really does not matter which day of the week you head to Prague. THe nightlife is pretty amazing. The weekend however is when everything starts to pick up. So what can you do in Prague at night? Well there are an assortment of bars, pubs. cabarets, clubs and even jazz clubs that you can head to.
If it is the Christmas season, you will find that the city is really active along the Christmas markets. But Christmas isn’t the only time when the city is active. Summer sees loads of people outdoors enjoying the fine weather, the streets throng with tourists and locals alike. You’ll hear singing and music sporadically and the vibe in general is very lively. You just can’t help but fall in love with the city.
8. It Is A Great Base For Day Trips
Not everyone knows this but Prague is also well located when it comes to discovering other parts of the Czech Republic. There are loads of great trips that you can head out on. One of my favorite ones was Kutna Hora.
Other great places that you can head to is the Terezin concentration camp, Cesky Krumlov, Dresden (Germany), Karlovy Vart and even Vienna! Though the latter is a bit of a long drive away.
So if you ask me, ‘Is Prague worth visiting?’ I would say yes because its location is perfect for anyone who wants to explore some of the iconic places in the country.
9. Prague Has So Much History
Prague has a lot of history at every turn. Not only do you see loads of perfectly intact monuments in the historic center but there are some interesting spots around the city too. The Prague Castle is a prime example.
If you dig a bit deeper into the history you can trace back stories that go earlier than World War II.
To know these you will need a local guide so I would advise taking some of the walking tours.

10. There’s A Lot Of Nature Around Prague
Not everyone thinks about nature when visiting a city. You think abut buildings, architecture, food and history. Prague however is a pretty unique city because there are a lot of places where you can actually enjoy greenery and nature. There are plenty of places to hike, go for long walks and even just explore at a slow pace.
Vyšehrad was my favorite spot. Its an old fort and is very close to the main city but it offers some unique views. You can walk through the area and since we visited in Autumn, the entire area was covered with a myriad of colors.
Is Prague worth visiting? It is if you love nature and the great outdoors!
11. Prague Is The Go To Place For Beer
One of the things that Prague is famous for is its beer. I mean, beer is really popular here in the Netherlands but in Prague you will find that there are microbreweries everywhere. There are even beer tasting experiences that you can head out on. Just make sure to book yours way in advance. They sell out quickly especially during the peak season in the city.
Is Prague worth visiting? If you’ve always wanted to try out the Czech beer options then you will find that this is totally the place for you!
Okay, so I’ve been over all the things that I really loved about the city. Honestly, if you ask me, is Prague worth visiting? I would say yes in a heart beat. Generally speaking, I always add in a list of cons to these articles. I couldn’t really think of any cons when it comes to visiting Prague. The city is gorgeous. It has amazing food and lots of things to see and do.
